Houston’s top 6-A girls team, Fort Bend Austin, taking on Hightower for the outright 20-6A crown Second quarter, off the break, Crystal Shultz with the layup and the Bulldogs had a small halftime lead. 3rd quarter, Hurricanes Madison Bob wide open for 3….it’s good. Hightower up 2. But Shultz would come back with the drive and lefty finish. Game tied at 23 a piece. Freshman OGECHI OKEKE (OH-GETCH-EE OH-KECK-EE) would come up huge for the Hurricanes down the stretch. Okeke scored 13 of her game high 15 points in the second half and added 16 rebounds as Hightower broke Austin’s 26 game winning streak with a 40-32 win and with that victory, both teams share the district crown.
