Pearland Oilers Roll to 49-10 Win Over Dobie in 19-6A Opener

September 15, 2026
Pearland opened District 19-6A play with a 49-10 blowout win over Dobie, with QB Kaleb Smith and WR Karon Johnson leading the way for the unbeaten Oilers.

District 19-6A play got underway at Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday night, and the Pearland Oilers wasted little time making a statement. The Oilers, entering the game at 2-0, dismantled the host Dobie Longhorns 49-10 to remain unbeaten and stake an early claim in the district standings.

Pearland struck first on a short-yardage score by Royce Swan, then quarterback Kaleb Smith took over. Smith connected with Deshon Washington for a touchdown pass to push the lead to 14-0, and in the second quarter he went back to the air, finding a big target in Karon Johnson — number 88 — to extend the advantage to 21. Johnson was a consistent weapon throughout the night, hauling in a second touchdown in the third quarter on a deep ball, going up high to bring it in.

Dobie's lone bright spot came when Adrian Taylor took a handoff, shed a tackle, and cut sharply to the corner of the end zone to pull the Longhorns within 21-7. But Pearland's depth proved too much. Backup quarterback Blake Morkovsky added to the margin with a deep touchdown strike to Joaquin Soraiz as the Oilers cleared the bench late.

The final score of 49-10 sends Pearland to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in district, while Dobie drops to 1-2 and faces an early hole in the 19-6A race.
