Klein Stays Unbeaten with 37-20 Win Over Klein Oak in 15-6A Opener

September 15, 2026
Klein improved to 3-0 with a 37-20 District 15-6A win over Klein Oak. Carter Latelle, Kain Bollen, and Antonio Dural were the standout performers.

Unbeaten Klein wasted no time making a statement in its District 15-6A opener, pulling away from crosstown rival Klein Oak 37-20 to move to 3-0 on the season.

The Bearkats struck first in the first quarter when quarterback Carter Latelle sold a play-action fake and found Kain Bollen dragging across the middle with no defender in sight. Klein built on that momentum and led 14-0 before Klein Oak got on the board.

The Panthers answered in the second quarter when Andre Phillip rolled right and hit Carson Varro on a pass that turned into a 36-yard touchdown — Varro spinning away from a defender before cutting outside and outrunning the coverage. Klein Oak still trailed 22-7 at halftime, but the deficit tightened considerably in the third quarter when Antonio Dural took an inside draw, slipped through the line, and turned on the jets for a 62-yard touchdown run, cutting the lead to eight.

The Bearkats responded quickly. Just two plays later, Latelle hit Bollen on a swing pass, Aaron Cortez delivered a key block on the edge, and Bollen used his speed to race 71 yards down the sideline — effectively putting the game out of reach.

Klein's defense and big-play offense proved too much for Klein Oak to overcome. The Bearkats closed out the 15-6A opener 37-20, with Latelle and Bollen connecting for multiple touchdowns in what was a dominant performance from the undefeated squad.
