Atascocita Eagles Roll Past Dickinson Gators 21-7
Atascocita came into Dickinson with a point to prove, and the Eagles made it clear early that the Gators were in for a long night. Behind quarterback Corbin Smejkal, Atascocita built a commanding 19-0 halftime lead and never looked back, securing a 21-7 victory to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Eagles struck first through the air, with Smejkal connecting with Brian Manuel Jr. for a touchdown to push the lead to 10-0 following an earlier field goal. Caden Mack added to the advantage with a short touchdown run, and though the extra point was no good, Atascocita headed into the locker room with a 19-point cushion.
A bad punt snap out of the end zone gave Atascocita a safety in the third quarter, extending the lead to 21-0. Dickinson, now 0-3 on the year, avoided the shutout late when quarterback Lorenzo Aguirre — whose team wore patriotic helmet and uniform decals — found Jeremiah Gamble for a touchdown to account for the final margin of 21-7.
