Tomball vs Oak Ridge Baseball Area Final Highlights
A playoff series between two Houston-area programs delivered the drama expected when the state's top-ranked team takes the field. Tomball, ranked number one in Texas, faced Oak Ridge in an area final that would test both squads.
Oak Ridge struck first in the third inning when Jacob Arrants connected on a pitch and drove it over the left field wall, giving the War Eagles a 2-0 advantage. Tomball responded with Corbin Cook squaring to bunt before pulling back and shooting a single past the second baseman, plating Brady Burrow. The Cougars added a sacrifice fly to knot the score at 2-2.
The sixth inning proved pivotal for Tomball. Burrow delivered a solid single that brought home Landon Reynolds for the go-ahead run. The Cougars manufactured another run when Burrow found himself in a rundown between first and second, drawing the Oak Ridge defense's attention while Jay Sralla raced home to beat the throw, extending the lead to 4-2.
Catcher Hopkins took the mound to close out the game, inducing a pop-up down the line that Burrow secured with a sliding catch. Tomball held on for the 4-2 victory in that contest, but Oak Ridge won the next two games to take the series and advance to the regional semifinals.
