Katy vs Summer Creek Regional Final | Owen Scarborough's 3-Run Homer

May 28, 2026
Owen Scarborough's 3-run homer powered Katy to an 8-4 win over Summer Creek in the regional final, but the Bulldogs won the series.

Thirty-three wins into the season, Katy's Tigers looked like a team built for a deep playoff run. Standing in their way in the regional final were the Summer Creek Bulldogs — and the Bulldogs proved they weren't going quietly.

Katy struck first, building a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Cannon Karnuth drove one into left field, and Luke Kohler — reading the ball off the bat from second base — raced home to make it a two-run advantage.

Summer Creek answered in the third. Bryce Hudson rolled one through the right side, and Jaidenn Garcia came in to cut the deficit to 2-1. A couple batters later, Caleb Alexander lined one down the third-base line, just under the glove of the fielder, plating two runs and giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead.

Katy tied it before Owen Scarborough settled the matter with one swing — a three-run moonshot to left field that put the Tigers firmly back in front. Katy won Game 1 by a final of 8-4.

But Summer Creek regrouped and won the series, ending Katy's season despite the Tigers' 33-win campaign.
