Shadow Creek Stuns Unbeaten Pearland 55-35, Moves to Brink of 19-6A Title

November 5, 2026
Shadow Creek defeats Pearland 55-35 in a wild shootout, ending the Oilers' perfect season and putting the Sharks one win from the 19-6A title.

Three Houston-area 6A programs entered the week with unblemished records. After Friday night, only two remain. Shadow Creek took down Pearland 55-35 in a back-and-forth shootout that saw the lead change hands multiple times and both offenses operate at full throttle from the opening drive.

Pearland struck first when Ryan Miller broke through the line and turned a carry into a 74-yard touchdown run. But Shadow Creek answered quickly, with Tavis Coleman connecting deep down the middle to BJ LaFell to tie it at 7. The Oilers reclaimed the lead on a 76-yard strike from Kaleb Smith to Joaquin Soraiz, and the tone for the night was set.

The second quarter belonged to Coleman. Forced out of the pocket, he threw across his body to LaFell, who spun away from a defender and used his speed to pull away from the Pearland secondary. The Sharks went up 28-21 before Royce Swan answered for Pearland with a 38-yard run, stiff-arming a defender on the way to the end zone to tie it at 28. Then, just before halftime, Coleman found his twin brother Bryce wide open in the end zone — Shadow Creek led 35-28 at the break.

The Sharks kept their foot on the gas in the second half. LaFell took a direct snap in the third quarter, got to the outside, and leaped into the end zone to push the lead to 14. A fourth-quarter strike from Coleman to Jaylen Addai delivered the final blow, sealing a 55-35 victory.

The win is a significant one for Shadow Creek in the context of District 19-6A. The Sharks can clinch the district title outright with a win next week.
