C.E. King Hands North Shore Its First Loss, Takes Control of District 17-6A

November 5, 2026
Khylan Davis led C.E. King past North Shore 42-21, snapping the Mustangs' unbeaten streak and putting the Panthers in control of District 17-6A.

North Shore hadn't lost since last November. C.E. King made sure that streak ended on Friday night.

Behind a standout performance from quarterback Khylan Davis, the Panthers handed North Shore its first loss of the season, 42-21, in a District 17-6A showdown that carries significant playoff implications for both programs. The win is King's fifth consecutive and puts the Panthers in control of their own district title race.

Davis was the story from the opening drive. He punched in the first score himself near the goal line, then found A'Rhiyan Montgomery on a short dump-off in the second quarter — Montgomery absorbing a hit but fighting into the end zone — to push the lead to 14-0. Davis later hit Antwon Sanders in the flat to extend the advantage to 21-6 before halftime.

North Shore showed life in the second quarter, with Ja'Voris Taylor connecting with La'Damian DeFreeze on a 34-yard strike and then finding Christopher Tolson wide open down the seam just before the break to make it 21-13. But the Mustangs couldn't sustain the momentum.

Davis took over in the second half, scoring on a pair of short touchdown runs to push the lead to 35-13. Kaden Bradley added a fourth-quarter score for North Shore, but Tyrin Gatson put the finishing touch on the night for King, capping a near-perfect team effort in the 42-21 final.

C.E. King now controls its own destiny in 17-6A with the postseason approaching.
