Plano Prestonwood Wins TAPPS D-1 State Baseball Title Over Concordia Lutheran

A grand slam and a family milestone defined the TAPPS Division 1 state baseball championship. Plano Prestonwood defeated Tomball Concordia Lutheran 11-2 to claim the title, with Trent Vilade delivering the decisive blow — a bases-loaded blast to right field that turned a close game into a runaway.

Prestonwood got on the board first in the second inning when Max Bachmann dropped a bloop single into right, scoring Riggs Huggins to make it 1-0. The Lions then loaded the bases, and Vilade unloaded on a curveball for a grand slam, pushing the lead to 7-nothing. The timing carried extra weight — just days earlier, Trent's brother Ryan was called up to the major leagues with Tampa Bay, making it a memorable week for the Vilade family.

Concordia Lutheran refused to fold quietly. Gio Cosma singled to right to bring in Ronin McCraw and get the Eagles on the board, but Prestonwood's lead was too much to overcome. The Lions closed it out 11-2, capturing the TAPPS D-1 state championship.
