Terrific 5-A girls game in LaPorte as the 2nd place Bulldogs hosted first place Manvel First quarter, Manvel's Peyton Cooks is on the run and with those big strides, she gets to the hoop with ease. 10-7 Mavericks after a quarter. LaPorte was led by Sophia Rodriguez. She hit 4 3-pointers on the night for 12 points and the Bulldogs were up at intermission 21-20. More Rodriguez in the 3rd...you just can't leave her open. Sophia drops another trifecta. LaPorte led after 3 quarters, 32-31. Here comes Manvel in the fourth. Off the steal, Cooks leads Akyla (Uh-Kayla) Fields for a layup to tie the score at 35. Then, down 1, Cooks is left wide open for 3...it's good. Manvel up 38-36. 1 second left and Mavericks lead by 2....Bulldogs looking for the game winning 3 off the inbounds but Addison Parker's shot hits the front rim. What a finish.
