Magnolia West Wins 7 of 8, Clinches Road Win Over Klein Cain 8-4

May 6, 2026
Magnolia West rallied from a 4-1 deficit to beat Klein Cain 8-4, with home runs from Beckett Steele and Jade Huff fueling a 7-of-8 stretch.

A 2-seed in District 15-6A was on the line, and Magnolia West had to earn it on the road against Klein Cain.

The Hurricanes made things difficult early. In the bottom of the first, Jackson Fontenette ripped one back up the middle to score Cooper Karns and Colton Jones, putting Klein Cain up 2-1. Jerod Spraberry then dropped a single in front of the left fielder to score Fontenette, and Cain extended the lead to 4-1 before the inning was over.

West began chipping away in the third. Garrett Bagwell's RBI double to right center plated Brayden Campbell as part of a three-run frame that knotted the game at 4-4.

The Mustangs took control in the sixth when Beckett Steele got ahold of a fastball and drove it over the left field wall, pushing the lead to 7-4. Jade Huff added an exclamation point in the seventh, straightening out a curveball and crushing it down the line off the foul pole.

West has now won seven of their last eight games. The final score: 8-4.
