Klein Collins Walks Off Grand Oaks 4-2 in Game 1 Before Losing Series

Andrew Guillory's walk-off homer lifts Klein Collins past Grand Oaks 4-2, but the Grizzlies rebound to claim the series.

A back-and-forth district matchup at Klein Collins saw the Tigers edge Grand Oaks 4-2 on a dramatic walk-off home run, though the Grizzlies would ultimately claim the series.

The game remained scoreless into the third inning when Grand Oaks struck first. Andrew Clayton popped one to shallow right-center, and Klein Collins outfielder Cody Madden made a diving catch. Collin Martin tagged from third and scored to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead.

Klein Collins answered in the bottom of the frame when Brice Romero lined an RBI double to right-center, scoring Tyce Hudson from third to tie the game at 1-1. The Tigers took a 2-1 lead, but Grand Oaks responded with aggressive baserunning. Hector Francia laid down a sacrifice bunt that resulted in an errant throw to first, allowing Sebastian Segura to race all the way around from first base and slide in safely to tie the game again.

Andrew Guillory came in with the bases loaded and struck out a Grand Oaks batter to end the threat. In the sixth inning, Klein Collins put runners on base, but Grand Oaks reliever Rhett Dolezal shut down the rally.

In the bottom of the seventh, Guillory stepped to the plate and launched an opposite-field home run to right field, giving Klein Collins the 4-2 walk-off victory in Game 1. Grand Oaks regrouped to take the next game and capture the series.
