Katy Tompkins vs Keller Central | Double OT Thriller in Championship Bracket

August 24, 2026
Keller Central edged Katy Tompkins 26-20 in double overtime during championship bracket play, capped by a TD pass between twin brothers Isaiah and Jeremiah Taylor.

It took two overtime periods and a connection between twin brothers to settle it. Keller Central survived a back-and-forth championship bracket matchup with Katy Tompkins, 26-20, in a game that wasn't decided until the final play of double overtime.

Tompkins quarterback JP Vaclavik was the engine of the offense throughout, spreading the ball to multiple receivers. He opened the scoring with a back-shoulder throw to Alex Parnell in the corner of the end zone, and later threaded a touchdown pass to Carter Young to push the lead to 14-7. Vaclavik kept Tompkins alive late in regulation as well, rolling right and hitting London Bumpus to tie the game at 20 and force overtime.

The Tompkins defense also had its moments. Linebacker Cruz Herman stepped in front of an Isaiah Taylor pass to kill a Central possession and keep the Tompkins offense in a favorable spot. An earlier reception by Ethan Meadows — a leaping grab near the goal line — helped set the tone for Tompkins' quick-strike approach.

But in double overtime, it was Keller Central's Taylor who had the last word, finding his twin brother Jeremiah in the end zone for the game-winning score. The 26-20 final sends Central advancing in the championship bracket.
