Houston Lamar Baseball Defeats Cy Falls 6-4 in 6A-D1 District Matchup
Class 6A Division I district play delivered another competitive series as Houston Lamar secured a 6-4 victory over Cy Falls to claim the matchup between the two programs.
The Redhawks broke through in the third inning when a wild pitch allowed Lawson Behan to trot home from third base, giving Lamar a 1-0 advantage. Later in the frame, Kalino Lehaun hit a chopper to short, but an errant throw at first base opened the door for Alex Bard and Bode Bromley to cross the plate, extending the lead to 4-0.
Cy Falls responded with a three-run rally when Armani Fredrick lined a bases-loaded hit to center field that rolled to the wall, plating three runs and knotting the game at 4-4.
The decisive moment came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Bard lifted a pop-up to third base that appeared to be the third out, but the fielder lost the ball in the lights. Two runs scored on the play, giving Lamar the cushion it needed. The Redhawks held on for the 6-4 final, taking the series in the process.
