Fulshear Defeats Seven Lakes 2-1 in Early Season Volleyball Showdown
Before district play even begins, Fulshear and Seven Lakes gave Houston-area volleyball fans a preview of what two top-tier programs look like when the stakes feel real. The two Katy-area schools met at the VYPE Block Party in a three-game early season match that went the distance.
Seven Lakes drew first blood, taking game one 25-21. Gracie Hobin served what was ruled an ace on the final point — a Fulshear defender touched the ball on the way out, sealing the game for the Spartans. Hobin added a back-line kill early in game two to push Seven Lakes' momentum further.
Fulshear answered. Izabella Pham connected cross-court for a winner, Makena Cam found a soft touch off the Seven Lakes block, and Arayah Watson delivered the kill that closed out game two for the Chargers. The defense was just as sharp — Watson and Bryana Goodwin combined on a block, and Shayne Voskuhl came up with a solo stuff at the net in game three.
Seven Lakes made a push late, with Grace Griffith setting up Wiggles Ngoh for a touch over the block, but Fulshear held firm. On match point, a Pham serve drew a pass that sailed wide, and the Chargers closed it out two games to one.
Both Fulshear and Seven Lakes open district play next week.
