Barbers Hill Wins 5A-DI State Title Behind Perfect Game & 6-RBI Day
A perfect game on the mound. Six RBI from one bat. A walk-off grand slam to end it. Barbers Hill's run to the 5A Division I state championship at McCombs Field in Austin was about as complete a performance as softball gets.
LSU commit Macie Bryant was untouchable from the first pitch. The junior right-hander faced the minimum and struck out nine Aledo batters, retiring every hitter she saw to finish with a perfect game — one of the rarest individual achievements in the sport.
The offense gave her plenty of support. Maddie Ray got the Eagles on the board in the first inning with an RBI double to the wall, and Taylor Lozano followed with a two-run double to push the lead to 2-0. Ray added another RBI single in the fourth to extend the advantage to 5-0, then delivered the exclamation point in the fifth — a bases-loaded blast over the center field wall for a walk-off grand slam. Ray finished with six RBI on the day.
Barbers Hill won 11-0 on the run rule, claiming the program's first state title since 2021 and ending Aledo's run in dominant fashion.
