Wyatt Clewett: Montgomery's Two-Way Threat Headed to Baylor | Parker University MVP
Few players in the Montgomery area create problems on both sides of the ball the way Wyatt Clewett does. The Montgomery Bears two-way standout carries an on-base percentage above .500, a batting average near .400, 17 stolen bases, and five home runs into the heart of the spring season — numbers that have made him one of the most dangerous players in the region.
Speed is at the center of everything Clewett does. A single can turn into a double before an outfielder has time to react, and his range in center field gives the Bears a defensive anchor as well. He has worked deliberately to develop that speed over the years, and it now shapes every phase of his game — on the bases, in the field, and even in how opposing pitchers approach him.
Clewett also takes the mound for Montgomery, giving the Bears a true two-way contributor at a time when the program is pushing for a playoff berth. He credits the team's chemistry — a core group that has played together for several seasons — as the factor that could carry them through. "This team is a family," he said. "We push each other both on and off the field, not just as players but as men."
After his senior season, Clewett will stay in the bear family. He is committed to Baylor University, where his brother is already on the roster. Beyond the family connection, he pointed to his relationship with the coaching staff, the academic environment, and the university's faith-based culture as the reasons Waco felt like the right fit. He also believes he can make an immediate impact with the Bears program.
Clewett was named this week's Parker University MVP and received a custom bobblehead — complete with his arm sleeve and pins — during his appearance on the show.
