A six-inning no-hitter against Ridge Point sent Atascocita to the regional semifinals, and senior Ty Higginbotham was the one dealing on the mound. The LSU commit has been the catalyst for an Eagles program that reached its first state championship game last season.
As a junior, Higginbotham posted an 11-2 record with a 1.41 ERA, and he's carried that momentum into his senior campaign. But his value extends beyond pitching. At the plate, the left-handed hitter displays the ability to drive the ball to all fields with power, a skill he says requires constant practice and discipline.
Higginbotham pitched in last year's state championship game, a loss that has fueled his determination to return and finish the job. Playing in District 23-6A against programs like Kingwood and Summer Creek has provided the competitive environment necessary to prepare for deep playoff runs.
After high school, Higginbotham will continue his baseball career at LSU, bringing both his pitching prowess and two-way versatility to the SEC.
