CE King WR Dillon Mitchell: 9.88 Sprinter & Football Weapon Heading Into Junior Year

June 11, 2026
CE King WR Dillon Mitchell ran a 9.88 100m—third-fastest in U.S. high school history—and hauled in 867 yards with 9 TDs last football season.

The third-fastest 100-meter time in U.S. high school history belongs to a wide receiver. CE King's Dillon Mitchell clocked a 9.88 at the state level, a mark that puts him in conversation with future Olympians—and already has him in races against one. Mitchell competed against Noah Lyles, the world-class sprinter and Olympic medalist, an experience he credits with sharpening his confidence heading into the high school season.

At the most recent UIL state track meet, Mitchell won gold in the 100 meters with a time of 9.92 seconds. The nickname "Superman" has followed him, and it's hard to argue against it. His personal best of 9.88 stands as one of the fastest times ever recorded by a high school athlete in the country.

On the football field, the soon-to-be junior translates that speed into production. Last season for the Panthers, Mitchell caught 40 passes for 867 yards and nine touchdowns, and added three kickoff return touchdowns. CE King, a program with state title aspirations, figures to lean heavily on Mitchell as a centerpiece of its offense heading into the fall.

Mitchell attributes his development to a family-driven training regimen that started when he was two or three years old. His father and older brother pushed him through demanding workouts from an early age—his brother, he says, gave him some of the toughest competition of his life growing up. That foundation, combined with elite track training, has made him one of the most recruited skill players in the state. He currently holds offers from major Division I programs across the country.

Mitchell received the Parker University MVP award and was presented with a bobblehead—the first track-themed one in the show's history—recognizing his accomplishments in both sports.
