Klein Cain's Jerson Carrasco: HOU Inside Boys Soccer Coach of the Year

When Jerson Carrasco arrived at Klein Cain, the Hurricanes boys soccer program had never won a playoff game. Two years later, there are two state championship trophies in the case.

Carrasco is the Parker University Boys Soccer Coach of the Year after steering Klein Cain through one of its most demanding seasons yet. With a target firmly on their backs as defending champions, the Hurricanes posted a 19-3-5 record and closed the year with a 1-0 victory over Atascocita in the state final — a result that made back-to-back titles a reality.

Carrasco described the repeat as one of the hardest things he has ever accomplished, recalling an early-season moment when an opponent celebrated a scoreless draw against Klein Cain as if they had won a championship. That kind of reception, he said, defined the challenge his team faced all year.

The offseason brings significant roster turnover. Forward Parker Glenn, who scored 22 goals, and Noah Bullard are among the key departures. But Carrasco expressed confidence in the next wave of talent within the Klein ISD program, pointing out that his returning players have watched what championship-level performance looks like and now have the chance to match it.

A third consecutive state title — something no program has accomplished in this fashion — is the goal heading into next season. Carrasco put it simply: put your head down, don't complain, and let the work speak.
