Lake Creek rallied with six runs in the sixth inning to defeat Santa Fe 6-1 in 5A-Division 2 softball action.

A six-run sixth inning propelled Lake Creek past Santa Fe 6-1 in a 5A-Division 2 softball clash between two programs with postseason aspirations.

Santa Fe struck first in the fifth inning when Alexis Walker smoked a line drive down the left field line. Vail McAfee, running on the pitch, raced all the way around from first base and slid in safely to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.

Lake Creek answered immediately in the bottom of the fifth. Maci Nowak connected on a fastball and ripped it over the center fielder's head, allowing Gracee Brewer to score and tie the game at 1-1.

The Lions continued their momentum later in the inning. Sara Wiggins hit a shot off the pitcher's glove, and Addie Davis raced home without a throw to give Lake Creek the lead. Brewer then sent one to right field, bringing two more runners across the plate.

Lake Creek's six-run sixth inning sealed the victory, as the Lions, considered one of the favorites in 5A-Division 2, improved their standing with the 6-1 win over Santa Fe.
