Fort Bend Austin Setter Tinsley Welker Commits to Arizona After 959-Assist Season

October 7, 2026
Fort Bend Austin setter Tinsley Welker tallied 959 assists last season and is headed to Arizona after a standout high school career.

Setting is one of the least glamorous positions in volleyball — and one of the most demanding. Tinsley Welker has embraced every bit of it. The Fort Bend Austin setter compiled 959 assists a season ago, averaging roughly eight per game, establishing herself as one of the more productive distributors in the Houston area.

That production has carried into the current season. Welker delivered a 26-assist performance against Hargrave, a performance that underscores her consistency as the engine of Austin's offense. Fort Bend Austin competes in a competitive stretch of District 20-5A, where reliable setting can be the difference in close district matches.

Her high school career will have a college chapter. Welker has committed to Arizona, where she'll continue her development at the Division I level.
