Hitchcock vs Ponder - 2023 Week 30 Basketball Game of the Week

Lloyd Jones the 3rd, a Texas Tech football commit, hoping to lead Hitchcock to repeat 3A titles as they took on Ponder First quarter, Elijah Sherwood, who scored 20 points in the semifinal, nails this 3 which was his only field goal of the game Later first, Jones kicks it out to Bryce Dorsey for the corner 3 and the Bulldogs are up 9-5 2nd quarter, off the miss, Damian McDaniel leads the break and it finishes with Tahara Goins making the basket and is fouled. The game was tied at 20. But Ponder would take a 10 point halftime lead as Timber Crider dumps it off to Max Hutcherson for a layup. 31-21 Lions at intermission. Second half, Ponder would extend the lead to 13 as Jace Sullivan would find Hutcherson for another basket. Hutcherson finished with 19 to lead the Lions. Hitchcock would then start making some plays on defense. McDaniel leads the break to Dorsey who finds Jones for 2. Bulldogs down 37-35. 4th quarter, it's McDaniel pulling up inside the arc for the jumper. The Former bobblehead winner scored 23 points to lead all scorers. 1:30 to go and McDaniel makes another steal and finds Jones for the basket underneath. Hitchcock has come all the way back to take a 49-48 lead.
