Banditos 2027 Elite vs Southlake Stix | Perfect Game National All-State Select Championships

At the 2026 Perfect Game National All-State Select Championships, hosted at Premier Baseball of Texas in Tomball, the Banditos 2027 Elite squared off against the Southlake Stix 2027 Prospects out of the DFW area — and one of the more unusual pitching performances of the tournament came from a Tomball arm.

Caden Cook, a pitcher from Concordia Lutheran in Tomball, got the start for the Banditos and delivered something rarely seen at any level: strikeouts from both sides of the mound. The ambidextrous right-hander recorded a punchout as a lefty and another as a righty in the same game.

The Banditos drew first blood when Zach Martin, out of Magnolia, laced an RBI single past the second baseman to score Ace Vera and put Tomball up 1-0. Roberto Colunga of CE King High School came on in relief and contributed on both sides of the ball — striking out a batter on the mound and collecting a pair of hits at the plate, including a double that cleared the center fielder's head.

Vera added a highlight-reel moment in the field, racing into left-center to make a diving catch, and later scored on a wild pitch after pinch running for Colunga. But the late push wasn't enough. The Southlake Stix 2027 Prospects pulled away for a 12-2 victory over the Tomball Banditos Elite.
