Shadow Creek's Aden Starling & Bryce Coleman Are District 19-6A's Most Dangerous Duo

Opposing defensive coordinators in District 19-6A face a difficult question this fall: how do you stop two elite receivers when you can barely contain one?

Shadow Creek's Aden Starling and Bryce Coleman give the Sharks a receiving tandem that stands among the best in the Houston area. Starling, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound wideout with 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash, recorded 35 catches for over 500 yards and nine touchdowns a season ago. His combination of size and route-running ability makes him a legitimate threat on every snap.

Coleman operates as a hybrid receiver and tight end, giving Shadow Creek a reliable option on short and intermediate routes when defenses commit to the perimeter. His versatility adds a different dimension to an already dynamic passing attack.

Feeding both of them is quarterback Tavis Coleman, who threw for over 2,500 yards and 37 touchdowns last season — numbers that reflect just how efficiently the Sharks move the ball through the air.

The receiving corps doesn't develop in a vacuum, either. Shadow Creek also features two of the state's top defensive backs in Brandon Sherrard and Kevin Jackson, meaning Starling and Coleman sharpen their skills against elite competition every day in practice.

Shadow Creek enters the season as the favorite to win District 19-6A, a classification that includes several competitive programs in the Alvin area. If the Sharks are going to make a deep playoff run, Starling and Coleman will be central to that effort.
