Houston-Area Standouts Headed to Oklahoma: Next Level Recruits

Oklahoma's 2027 recruiting class is drawing heavily from the Houston area, and the Sooners have secured four commitments with the talent to make an immediate impact in Norman.

Brenham running back Jacoby Dixon leads the group with local familiarity. In Week 1, he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns to help Brenham post a 49-14 victory over Huntsville — a statement win to open the season in Blue Bell Country. Dixon is the kind of bell-cow back Oklahoma covets, and his early-season production suggests Brenham could be a team to watch this fall.

Montgomery's Keldrid Ben is equally dangerous in the backfield. He carried the Bears past New Caney 23-20 in Week 1, rushing for 164 yards and a touchdown while averaging close to 10 yards per carry — a pace consistent with his breakout performances against Lake Creek and Port Neches-Groves a season ago. Ben and Dixon give the Sooners a formidable one-two punch at running back for years to come.

Clearing the path for both will be Katy offensive lineman Isaac Coughran. At 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, Coughran has the frame and physicality to develop into a starter on the offensive line at the Power Four level.

Rounding out the Houston contingent is Atascocita cornerback Trenton Blaylock, who recorded three interceptions last season before an ankle injury cut his year short. Playing in the so-called District of Doom — where he lines up against the likes of Summer Creek's Benny Easter and CE King speedster Dillon Mitchell — Blaylock is battle-tested and projects as a shutdown corner at the next level.

Together, the four prospects represent one of the stronger regional pipelines Oklahoma has built out of the Houston area heading into the 2027 cycle.
