Nineteen sacks between two players is a number that gets coordinators across District 16-6A drawing up extra blocking schemes before they even flip on film. For Cy Falls, that production came from senior defensive linemen Kaden McCarty and James Harris — and both are back for another run.
McCarty, a six-foot-two, 215-pound senior committed to Texas A&M, is ranked the 17th-best player in the state according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football. Last season he posted 56 tackles, 26 for loss, and 12 sacks, earning the team's defensive captain designation. Harris, also six-two at 200 pounds, matched that energy with 63 tackles, 23 for loss, and seven sacks — a résumé that drew 26 scholarship offers.
What makes the pairing particularly difficult to neutralize, according to District 16-6A reporter Jeff Power, is that they elevate each other. Pressure from both ends of the line makes a double-team on either player nearly impossible to sustain.
Cy Falls head coach Chris Brister believes the Golden Eagles are positioned to build on last year's postseason run — the program's deepest since 2015. With McCarty and Harris anchoring the front, a district championship and an extended playoff run are the expectations in Cypress this fall.
