14-6A matchup at Planet Ford Stadium as Spring Westfield took on Spring DeKaney.
Westfield running the ole halfback option to perfection in the first quarter...Taji Atkins throws it and there isn't anyone but Austin Abrams to catch it. 9-0 Mustangs
3rd quarter, Westfield up 9-6 and they go back to the bag of tricks. This time Abrams wants to giving passing the ball a whirl....and sure enough he's on target too. Emmanuel Yancey on the other end of this 51 yard play. Coach....keep that in the playbook.
But on the ensuing kickoff, DeKaney's Markie Grant plays the ball at the 3. I'm not sure that's a good idea, my guy...wait a second....check that.....it's a perfect idea as Markie is out of here....97 yards to the house. Wildcats have cut the lead to 16-13.
But Atkins seals the deal for the Mustangs....takes the handoff, does a little dipsey doo around a defender and then it's touchdown time. 30 yard score and Westfield pulls it out, 23-13
