Seven Lakes Tops Defending 6A State Champs North Crowley 71-64

August 20, 2026
Katy Seven Lakes beat defending 6A state champ North Crowley 71-64 behind 18 points from Alex Teahen and a strong second half from Isaiah Santos.

Beating the defending Class 6A state champion is a statement win at any point in the season. Katy Seven Lakes delivered one, taking down North Crowley 71-64 in a game that drew some notable attention — former Kansas standout and current Colorado assistant Danny Manning was on hand to scout the matchup.

Seven Lakes set the tone early, with point guard Dean Spencer pushing the pace and finding Alex Teahen in the corner for an open three. Spencer was a consistent presence throughout, later taking it himself off the dribble and finishing at the glass with a soft layoff the window.

In the second half, the Spartans kept going back to Teahen. He hit another three off a rocker-step — the kind of shot that requires both footwork and confidence — and finished as the team's leading scorer with 18 points. Isaiah Santos then took over down the stretch, slicing through traffic in the paint between three defenders before Spencer found him again for an easy bucket.

The 71-64 final gives Seven Lakes a signature win over a North Crowley program that entered the game as the reigning 6A state champions.
