Houston Lamar Ready to Prove Their Domiance Once Again
It had been a decade since the Lamar Texans had to use the word “regroup”. But that’s what they did this past off season after losing a district game last year for the first time in 72 straight games. That one defeat, a 22-21 overtime loss to Heights, not only broke the streak, but cost them a district title as well, which did not sit too well with the returning players.
The Texans worked hard during off season workouts with the goal of starting another, even longer, district winning streak. They easily won their first 4 district games which left Heights waiting for them for their final game of the season with the district title on the line. The defense dominated and the Texans won it, 19-6. Bringing home what they felt was theirs….the 18-6A championship
Now, after obtaining goal number one, it’s on to the second season and new goals. The Texans have been impossible to move the ball on in district play as they have only allowed 19 points in those 5 games. And on offense, Coach Michael Lindsey credits his much improved offensive line for much of Lamar’s success
The Texans playoff road starts with perennial power, Cy-Fair. However, Lamar feels no fear about this one, especially after who they had to play first round last year after finishing second in district.
