THSBCA All-Star Game: North Edges South 3-2 Behind Houston-Area Talent

August 20, 2026
The North edged the South 3-2 at the THSBCA All-Star Game, with Houston-area arms and Crosby's Hank Barrientes starring in Round Rock.

Round Rock hosted the THSBCA All-Star Game last Sunday, and Houston-area talent was front and center as Class 5A and 6A seniors wrapped up their high school careers on a statewide stage. The game splits rosters by region — UIL Regions 1 and 2 on the North squad, Regions 3 and 4 on the South — which means the Houston area feeds both sides of the bracket.

The North's pitching set the tone early. Friendswood starter Landon Collins was sharp from the jump, striking out the side in the first inning. Cypress Woods' Ross Sullivan kept the momentum going with a strong outing of his own, adding another strikeout to a North staff that held the South hitless deep into the game.

The South finally broke through in the ninth when Crosby's Hank Barrientes roped a ball to the left-center field wall. Barrientes — who hit .437 this past season and went 7-1 on the mound with an ERA under 1.00 — eventually scored to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the North closed it out for the win.

After the final out, University of Texas commit Lawson Beha spoke with HOU Inside High School Sports, reflecting on the end of his high school career before heading to Austin.
