Spring Westfield came from behind to beat Fort Bend Hightower 38-28.
Another good one tonight, Spring Westfield taking on Hightower...Hightower coming into this one with heavy hearts in memory of their fallen teammate Trey Thomas who tragically passed away earlier this summer.
The Hightower offense comes out motivated to play for Trey as they dial up play action and it works to perfection as senior qb JaKolby Longino (Lon-geno) is right on target...He won't get many that easy and its 7-0 Canes.
Westfield trailing 14-3 before the offense shows some signs of life...This touchdown from Jaron Sanford (Juh-ron) cuts the lead to 14-10 in the 2nd quarter...
Hightower regains the lead Longino, hanging in against the blitz he delivers a strike to Caleb Douglas for the touchdown. Westfield coaches might throw the challenge flag if we were in the NFL but it counts and its 21-17 Hurricanes.
Just before halftime Hightower is going with a squib kick to prevent the return...
But Dequarious Calhoun gets a good hop and finds a seam - he's off to the races, an 85 yard kick return for the touchdown a back breaker on special teams helps lift Westfield to the opening night win, great game by both teams but Westfield takes it by a final of 38-28.
