In the girls final, Bellaire Episcopal was looking to avenge a 15 point regular season loss to Kinkaid. And they got cooking early in this one behind Me’Arah O’Neal. The youngest daughter of Shaq was dominant from outside and inside in this one. The Florida commit finished with 28 points and the Knights would enter the fourth with a 50-36 lead. But Kinkaid went on a furious 13-2 run that would cut the Episcopal lead to 52-49 with 4 ½ to play thanks to this bucket underneath by Sydney Marshall. But, the Knights would pull away and when Rylee Poindexter drops in this 3 pointer, Episcopal was on their way to the SPC title as they won their first state title since 1988 with a 66-54 victory The boys from Bellaire Episcopal were looking for their 2nd state title in 3 years as they took on St. Mark’s. Senior Justin Begg was incredible, as usual. He scored 12 of his 21 points in the 2nd quarter and this 3 pointer pushed the Knights lead to 5. Then, Begg showed off his point guard skills with this awesome behind the back pass to Jakeel Registe (Ruh-GEEST-tay) for the big slam. Registe with 18 points and the knights were up 37-29 at the half. Second half, Episcopal would pull away. Breylon Thompson with the layup off the steal and that would do it.
