North Shore Survives Summer Creek in Wild 28-27 Finish | Blocked PAT Decides It
A blocked extra point with the game on the line — that was the margin in one of the most chaotic finishes of the Houston-area high school football season. Top-ranked North Shore survived a trip to Summer Creek, 28-27, in a District 17-6A rivalry game that swung momentum multiple times before the final seconds.
Summer Creek set the tone immediately. Caleb White fielded a short North Shore field goal attempt in the back of the end zone and returned it 107 yards for a touchdown, giving the Bulldogs an early 7-0 lead. The home crowd had reason to believe. Noah Spinks later connected with Ahmad Simon on a deep sideline route, and Summer Creek pushed the lead to 21-7.
North Shore, however, answered the way a program with its pedigree tends to. Ja'Voris Taylor found Michael Camacho to cut the deficit, then hit a wide-open Jaden Kendrick, who outraced the defense to the pylon to tie the game. With less than a minute remaining, Kaden Brandley punched in a go-ahead touchdown run to give the Mustangs their first lead of the night at 28-21.
Summer Creek wasn't finished. A long kickoff return set up Braylin Causey, who scored from 11 yards out to pull the Bulldogs within one. Rather than going for the two-point conversion and the win, Summer Creek opted to kick the extra point — and it was blocked. North Shore held on, 28-27, in a District 17-6A result with potential playoff implications for both programs.
