Langham Creek Holds Off Cy Woods 16-14 in Battle of 16-6A Unbeatens

October 13, 2026
Langham Creek survives a 16-14 thriller against Cy Woods, staying unbeaten in District 16-6A play behind Jace Williams and a late defensive stop.

A safety off a botched punt snap with under two minutes left in the first half turned out to be the decisive play in a tight District 16-6A clash between two unbeaten teams. Langham Creek edged Cy Woods 16-14, preserving its perfect district record in a game that came down to a fourth-down stop at the goal line.

Langham Creek struck first when quarterback Jace Williams kept it on the read-option and took it 32 yards untouched for the opening score. Cy Woods answered quickly, with Rontavious Pomier finding a seam on a delay and bursting through for the tying score. Max Terral punched it in from a yard out early in the second quarter to give the Wildcats their first lead of the night.

Williams responded by buying time in the pocket and hitting Camarre Palmer in the flat. Palmer stiff-armed a defender and carried the ball down to the one-yard line, setting up a short-yardage touchdown that knotted the game at 14. Then, with Cy Woods lining up to punt just before halftime, the snap sailed over the punter's head and out of the end zone — a safety that gave Langham Creek a 16-14 lead it would not relinquish.

The Wildcats had one final chance late in the fourth quarter, driving inside the 30 and going for it on fourth down. But defensive back Du'Marco Priest broke up the pass near the goal line to end the threat and lock up the win for the Lobos.
