La Marque 62, Brazosport 0 | District 12-4A Div. II Opener Blowout

October 13, 2026
La Marque opened district play with a 62-0 blowout over 5-0 Brazosport, posting 619 yards and forcing four first-half turnovers in the 12-4A DII opener.

A perfect record offered no protection for Brazosport on Friday night. The Exporters came into La Marque at 5-0, but the Cougars wasted little time making a statement in their District 12-4A Division II opener, rolling to a 62-0 shutout that was effectively over before halftime.

La Marque led 41-0 at the break, fueled in large part by a defense that forced four turnovers in the first half alone. Anthony Jones delivered the most electric moment on that side of the ball, intercepting a deflected pass from Brazosport quarterback David Kier and returning it for a pick-six — one of the signature plays in a dominant team performance.

Offensively, the Cougars finished with 619 total yards. Quarterback Deuce Walker was sharp throughout, including a 50-yard touchdown strike to Romelo Robinson. Walker also showed his athleticism on a scramble play, breaking right out of the shotgun, cutting back against the grain, and fighting through contact to reach the end zone for a score that pushed the lead to 21-0.

Jerod Lynch was equally punishing on the ground, finishing with three touchdowns — highlighted by a 90-plus yard scoring run that showcased the kind of big-play ability that makes La Marque a threat in the district. The final score, 62-0, sends a clear message to the rest of 12-4A Division II as district play gets underway.
