Katy Tigers Dominate Dickinson 42-24 | Texas Oncology Team of the Week

Three interceptions in a single half is a statement. Katy defensive back David Olotu-Judah made that statement emphatically against Dickinson, picking off three passes — two of them in the end zone — to anchor a Tigers defense that never let the Gators find a rhythm.

Dickinson came in looking to rebound from a loss the week prior and drew first blood when Tavin Gomez found running room between the tackles to put the Gators up 7-0. But Katy answered on the very first play of the ensuing possession, as Tony Manuel burst through a tackle and raced 42 yards to the end zone to tie the game.

From there, the Tigers took control. Mason Hartwell rolled left and fired back across his body to a wide-open Braylon Pettaway to put Katy ahead, and the defense made sure Dickinson couldn't respond. Olotu-Judah's end zone interceptions repeatedly stalled Gator drives at the most critical moments.

A wild second-quarter sequence added to the Katy lead — Fayo George fumbled a handoff, Hartwell scooped it off the turf and walked in untouched to make it 21-7. Dickinson's Lorenzo Aguirre did connect with Jordan Hasker in the far corner of the end zone to keep it from becoming a rout, but Manuel's second long touchdown run — this one 48 yards — helped Katy close it out.

The final score was 42-24, and with the all-around performance, the Tigers earned Texas Oncology Team of the Week recognition.
