Dickinson Wins 5th Straight, Tops Unbeaten Deer Park 49-28 in 18-6A Showdown
A demanding early-season schedule was always part of the plan for Dickinson, and Friday night's District 18-6A clash with unbeaten Deer Park looked like proof it was working. The Gators rolled to a 49-28 victory, their fifth win in a row, in a matchup that carried real weight in the 18-6A standings.
Dickinson struck first when CJ Brown took a carry around the left side and walked in untouched, putting the Gators up 7-0 early. Deer Park answered in the second half on a deep connection from Hayden LaFrenz to Aandon Schroeder, keeping the Falcons within reach.
That's when Lorenzo Aguirre took over. The Dickinson signal-caller found DeMarion Payne across the middle on a play that turned into extra yards after contact — Payne bouncing off one defender and spinning off another. Aguirre then kept it himself on an RPO read and punched it in for six. He capped his night in the fourth quarter with a quick hitter back to Payne, who handled the rest.
Aguirre's performance was the story of the night — multiple touchdown drives, a rushing score, and the kind of decision-making that a tough non-district slate is designed to develop. At 49-28, Dickinson sent a clear message in 18-6A: five straight and still rolling.
