Brody Bartee's Late TD Pass Lifts Ridge Point Over Dickinson 29-26
Two of the Houston area's top programs needed every last second to settle it. Fort Bend Ridge Point escaped with a 29-26 win over Dickinson in a game that swung momentum multiple times before Brody Bartee made the decisive throw.
Ridge Point dug out of an early deficit when Bartee found Caiden Lawrence on a quick hitter that Lawrence turned into a 45-yard gain and a touchdown. The Panthers led 14-12 at halftime thanks to an 84-yard strike from Bartee to John Rangel, who won a foot race to the end zone on a play-action shot just before the break.
Dickinson's special teams unit changed the game's complexion in the first half, forcing a fumble on a punt and setting up a short field that Tavin Gomez cashed in with a touchdown run. The Gators took the lead in the second half when Lorenzo Aguirre hit Ja'Marion Payne on a go route for their second touchdown of the half, pushing Dickinson ahead 26-22.
With under two minutes remaining and the season on the line, Bartee stepped up in the pocket and floated a pass down the middle to Lawrence, who made the catch in stride for the go-ahead score. Ridge Point held on for the 29-26 final.
