Aldine Davis Clinches Second Place in 14-6A With 35-20 Win Over Spring
Second place in District 14-6A was on the line Friday night, and Aldine Davis made sure to take it. The Falcons topped Spring 35-20, locking up their seventh win of the season and securing their spot in the district standings heading into the final stretch of the UIL regular season.
Davis wasted no time setting the tone. Quarterback Kobe Miles found Cortland Lee-Pugh on a 43-yard touchdown pass to put the Falcons up 7-0 after the first quarter. Bryderick Robins added a rushing score in the second to push the lead to 14-0.
Spring found life late in the half when Triston Cartright scooped up a Davis fumble and returned it 37 yards for a score, cutting the deficit to 14-7 at the break and giving the Lions a spark heading into the locker room.
Davis answered in the third quarter. Larry McCaroll took a carry around the left side, waited for a crease to open, and burst through for a 36-yard gain to push the lead back to two scores. Miles then put the game away in the fourth, threading a pass down the seam to Arlando Richardson, who split two defenders and crossed the goal line.
The final: Davis 35, Spring 20. For their effort, the Falcons are this week's Texas Oncology Team of the Week.
