About Houston Math, Science & Tech
Houston Math, Science & Tech sits on Irvington Boulevard in northeast Houston. The school was founded in 1878 as Houston Academy, making it the oldest public high school in the Houston Independent School District and in Texas. Lyndon B. Johnson taught public speaking there in 1930, before he became the 36th president. The Tigers football team holds the longest active district losing streak in Texas, with 100 consecutive losses in district play as of 2022.
