In other 4A region 3 action a great crowd was on hand to see Wheatley and Friendswood go at it. Low scoring game in the 3rd, Wheatley on the fast break Ronald Johnson finishes things off and it's 24-21. 4th quarter, Friendswoods 3 sport star Jordan Wood with a 3 point play to cut the Wheatley lead to 33-31. Kevon Johnson drops in a three as the Wildcat lead extends to 7. Wood has to leave the game with a bloody nose, but Friendswoods 3 point game comes alive Quinton Mertz nails a three 38-35. Tavario Miller gets it and slams it down, extending the Wheatley lead to 40-35. Chris Collins with a 3 pointer cuts it to 2. Another 3 pointer, this courtesy of Lane Griffon and now it's 43-42 as the Mustangs are feeling it. Friendswood has the ball with under :45 seconds to play but Latrell Phillips with the steal and even though he was fouled and didn't score, he makes both free throws and Wheatley holds on for the win 46-42.
