When watching the Waller Bulldogs cheer team run through their 3 and a half minute routine, there is one thing that catches your attention immediately…..an abundance of energy. That’s what cheer is all about. At any given Waller sporting event, no matter what is going on in the field of play, the athletes can count on the Bulldogs cheer team to spread positive vibes throughout the entire cheering section. And the same level of excitement was key for Waller to do well at the U-I-L state spirit competition where the Bulldogs were competing for the second straight year.
Waller was competing at the 6A Division 2 level which is only the second year they’ve qualified for this larger classification. They came into the competition as an underdog, but refused to let it deter them from the task at hand.
When it came time to perform in their qualifying round, the girls really stuck it. Surrounded by their Waller support group, which included family and friends, the Bulldogs came super close to making it to the finals. They finished 25th out of 64 teams which was a major step up from where they finished last year. With these experiences, Waller will continue to grow and hopefully reach the finals and even a state championship in the next few years.
