Tomball High School Girl's Basketball - Chevy Spotlight

“Gotta finsh come on y'all, finish.” Tomball Head Coach Karen Lemker's has seen her teams finish with 5 district titles in her 29 years at the school. I love Tomball, When I came here I knew this would be my last stop. Sounds Full: Cougars Lemker believed in the caliber of the Tomball community and has become the cornerstone of the programs immense success. She just tells it like it is and strives to help us be better people and better players. She's technical about the game and she helps me a lot because when I ask her something she explains things in a way that I can understand. This program is not just supported by me it'supported by the community, and that's the teachers and the administrators and the parents and kids. Despite losing 5 games by a combined 15 points and 5 players from last year’s regional finalist team the Cougars have emerged as one of the top ranked teams in 4A. 2 transfer players have blended in with a talented group that includes 3 year letterman Post Carissa Diaz who has signed to play for HBU next season. You've got to keep improving and that's what this group is doing. They've got the desire, they've seen what it's like It helps the fact that some of them have gone through the process last year. We're fighters, we've been in situations where we're been down but we came back and didn't give up. Coach tells us not to give up ever and so we do that on and off the court. It's the 20th anniversary of the programs last trip to the state tournament and they certainly have a shot to return to Austin, but the winning numbers aren't just coming on the scoreboard. We have some high academics here I have three that have made the criteria and will be named academic all-state and one that's received an appointment to the naval academy. We've got great kids here, and it speaks volumes for our school district and the parents and the kids that are involved in it. The Tomball Girls Basketball Team, this week's Chevy Spotlight.
