The Woodlands Dominates College Park 39-7 in War of the Woods
Thirty-three points before halftime. That was the statement The Woodlands made in the War of the Woods, a District 13-6A rivalry matchup against College Park that turned into a rout from the opening series.
The Highlanders needed just three plays to go up 13-0. Quarterback Kaden Copelin rolled right on the second play from scrimmage and fired a dart to Carter Cass, who made a sliding catch for the first score. Then, on the very next drive, Jason Haskins took a handoff straight up the gut and didn't stop for 82 yards — a backbreaker of a run that put The Woodlands firmly in control before College Park's offense had found any rhythm.
Copelin kept going back to Cass throughout the night, connecting with his favorite target multiple times including a 4-yard score late in the first quarter that pushed the lead to 20-0. Copelin added a 12-yard keeper just before the half to make it 27-nothing.
The Woodlands defense matched the offense's production. Matthew Johnson picked off a College Park pass late in the first quarter, and Bryce Scott turned his interception into a 32-yard touchdown return to close the half — giving the Highlanders a 33-point cushion heading into the locker room.
The Copelin-to-Cass connection surfaced again in the third quarter before the final whistle. The Woodlands won 39-7, a result that carries weight early in district play and sends a clear message to the rest of 13-6A.
