July 21, 2018
It was the battle by the bay as Rivals Texas City and La Marque squared off. Texas city off to a fast start...Andrew Allen goes up top and Armanti Foreman hauls it in for a 47-yard score. 7-0 Stings. Later, Donald Lynch busts off a 20-yard run to pay dirt, Texas City in control 21-0. La Marque answers with a 38-yard run from Alan Cooper to make it 21-7. Texas City responds, D'Onta Foreman with the first of his 3 first half touchdowns, this one making it 28-7 Stings. A little later, Foreman's run from 9 yards out extends the lead to 42-7. The Cougars add a late first half TD with a 27-yard run from Daquan Jones, 42-14 at that point, and that would be the score going to the half. 2nd half, Cougars defense steps up with an interception as Chason Douglas registers the takeaway. That leads to a 46-yard touchdown pass from Ladarian Ellis Jones to Mike Hardwman making it 49-21 Stings. Cougars add another score courtesy of Ellis Jones from 2 yards out, now 49-28. Texas City would answer later in the half as Allen punches it in from the 2, Texas City in command 56-28 and go on to roll 56-35. We've built a program, the kids are believing in the program and I said you've got to play every opponent to the utmost and they really wanted this one they haven't beaten La Marque in 3 years because they're a good program and like several of the seniors said it's their time they wanted it today.
