Summer Creek vs DeSoto - 2023 Week 18 Football Game of the Week

It was the first time a Humble ISD team had made it to state for football, so Summer Creek and it’s community took a lot of pride on it’s journey to AT&T Stadium. Tulsa bound Lloyd Avant knew he would have to find a way to break through a tough Desoto defense to give the Bulldogs a chance in this one, but it was the Summer Creek defense that was in a world of hurt. Right out the gate, Desoto’s Marvin Duffey would find his way to the end soon on this 55 yard touchdown run and that was just the beginning of an Eagle offensive barrage. The nation’s 6th ranked team would score 36 points in the first half as D J Bailey would throw for 286 yards and 4 touchdowns including 3 to Daylon Singleton and the route was on. But give the Bulldogs credit….they never gave up. Kaleb Walker would fall on this backwards pass right around the goaline and that would help Summer Creek get their first points. It was Lloyd Avant who would bully his way into the end zone from the 6 to cut the Desoto lead to 29-7. Avant would score another touchdown from the 1 yard line later in the second half, but this game was never in doubt. Desoto scored a UIL 6A record in points as they took down the Bulldogs 74-14. However, Summer Creek took pride in making history for Humble I-S-D ######### Subscribe to Houston Inside High School Sports to stay up to date on everything high school sports related in the Greater Houston Area!
