Summer Creek is heading into the regional final on quite a roll. The Bulldogs are 12-1 on the season and are led by a senior class that knows what it takes to go this deep in the post season. When they were sophomores, Summer Creek made it to the regional final before losing to Katy. However, this season feels a little different for the Bulldogs. This team is extremely confident…but not cocky.
Senior running back, Lloyd Avant, is leading the way for the Bulldogs. Avant has been Summer Creek’s workhorse for the past 3 years and his stat line shows why. Last week, Lloyd went over 5 thousand career rushing yards for the Bulldogs. His teammates all look up to the senior as he not only shows out on game nights, but every day in practice as well.
The Bulldogs have been battle tested all year. 6 of their 10 regular season games were against playoff teams and they hadn’t given up a point in their first 2 post season victories. What really sparked Summer Creek was a week 11 win over Atascocita….a team the Bulldogs have never defeated.
