Strake Jesuit at Alief Taylor - 2022 Week 8 Houston High School Football Highlights

Lightning delayed this game for a couple hours, but both teams took the field knowing the playoff implications.

Second quarter, it's 3-3, Strake Jesuit's Bryce Fucik sees his big tight end, Chico Holt, the Northwestern commit, and they connect on the 5 yard score to put the Crusaders up 10-3 at the half.

Taylor would tie it up as quarterback, Terrian Roberts, takes off on a 10 yard quarterback sneak and it's 10 to 10 after 3.

But that's when things got interesting. Josh Earl-Smith gets the handoff and a head of speed as he takes off down the sidelines for 62 yards and into the red zone where the Lions would later score to go up 17-10.

Later in the 4th, Crusaders at the 35 and the ball goes to Devin Baylor who breaks a ridiculous amount of tackles for the touchdown. How did he do that? 17-17 is the score.

But Taylor would get the lead back. Roberts throws across the middle to Bricen Brantley and now it's a foot race to the pilon. A foot race that Brantley would win. 49 yard touchdown gives the Lions a 24-17 lead.

Last chance for Jesuit, Fucik drops back, looks over the middle, but it's tipped and picked by Jushard Mims to seal it for the Lions. They win 24-17 and for their huge defensive stop they also earn our defensive title belt.
