One of the area's better rivalries renewed tonight as St. Thomas hosted St. Pius X.
After falling behind early, St. Thomas ties the game at 7 as John Fontenot caps a scoring drive with a couple of nifty moves from the 10. It's a 7-0 lead.
After another Fontenot touchdown, St. Pius X was down 14-7, but Carson Rogers would call his own number from 8 yards out on the keeper, he lunges in to tie the game at 14.
St. Thomas responds through the air, Houston bound Maddox Kopp to Fontenot once again, they've got the screen set up perfectly. He makes a couple of moves and goes all the way back across the field 32 yards for the touchdown, electrifying the home crowd as the Eagles take a 28-14 lead at halftime.
After the intermission, St. Thomas keeps their foot on the gas, Kopp with another touchdown pass, this one to Alex Schneider to up the lead to 35-14.
Then its Fontenot, what a night he had! Finding all kinds of room up the middle of the field, he takes it in from 17 yards out, St. Thomas wins it by a final of 49-21.
